'Penny Jennings of Romsey Road Runners was the first lady home in 59:45 at the Wherwell 10K Cross Country which took place last Sunday. It is a well organised event and this year, involved alot of mud! Anna Duignan (71:00) won the prize for being the most muddy as she slipped and almost completely coated her front from the chin down, obliterating her number in the process! It was more unusual if you didn't fall as very slippery conditions prevailed along most of the course. Other Results: Derek Kelly 63:03, Emily Abab 68:00, Wendy Couper 71:14.
Charlotte Maslen gained a personal best time in the Bournemouth Half Marathon, also on Sunday, taking two minutes off her previous PB and finishing just a minute over 2 hours.
Christine Saunders also ran a personal best time in the Oakhaven 10K, finishing in 46:30. Prior to that, she completed the Reading Half Marathon in 1:55:15.
Alistair Longworth completed the Compton 20 Mile in 3:14:51. The race started in a snow blizzard at sub-zero temperatures then alternated between sleet, hail and more snow with a dab of sunshine. Last Sunday he completed the extremely muddy Combe Gibbet to Overton 16 Mile course in 2:26:04, five minutes down on last year but 10 places up.
The Club is now looking forward to the traditional annual
Pasta Party next Tuesday evening to send all members taking part in this year's
London Marathon all the best.
