'Romsey Road Runners were out in force again at the second of this summer's RR10 Cross Country series which took place at Deerleap in the New Forest and attracted a record 369 participants. Thirty three Romsey Road Runners took part and new member Matt Hammerton finished in an excellent 5th place out of 234 men. Vicki Rhys-Jones also had an impressive race, finishing 15th out of 135 ladies. David Nixon ran in the Shinfield 10K, Reading, Berkshire on May Day bank holiday in a time of 53:24.

The Lymington 10K road race grows bigger every year and over 500 participants took part last Sunday in very warm conditions, without so much as a welcome sea breeze. Jane Field was first Romsey Road Runner home in 47:17 with Paul Cutbill second in 49:00. David Page described his performance as a 'personal worst' but nevertheless finished in a very respectable 51:43. Ruth Page was pleased to finish in 61:30 and Gill Callus was back in competitive action for the first time since completing the London Marathon.

Lynne Whitaker found the going tough in the Alton 10 Mile which also took place in the heat last Sunday, but still managed to finish in 73:07 and win third place in her age category. Alistair Longworth came in with a time of 79.54.
