'Romsey Road Runners have had another exciting
week, competing in a variety of events. Tamatha Ryan took part in the 20K
Puddletown Plod last Sunday and finished 3rd lady, 1st in her age category,
in a time of 1:38:40. Tam described the race as 'very hot and very hilly but
well organised with generous prizes at the finish'. On her way down to the
Dorset race she spotted a lot of cyclists, one of whom was Matt Hammerton
who was competing in the gruelling Weymouth Half Iron Man. Competitors run
a half marathon (13.1 miles), preceded by a 2km swim and 54 mile bike ride.
Matt's hard training was rewarded as he finished in 4 hours 22 minutes and
came 8th out of 280 finishers.
On the same day, Lynne Whitaker scorched her way round the Winchester 10K
in a time of 42:38, winning her age group in the process.
Paul Burnage went much further afield a few weeks ago, completing the Cracow
Marathon in Poland in an excellent time of 3 hours 25 minutes.
Hannah Knowles took part in her first 10K race at Moors Valley and finished
in 54:18.
David Nixon travelled to his native Yorkshire at the end of May to take part
in the Austwick Amble, an 8 mile Yorkshire Fell Race. Gail force winds didn't
prevent him completing the race in 91:08. David was back on the roads last
weekend and ran the Bishops Waltham 5 Mile in 47:13.
