'Many runners were put off by the miserable weather on Wednesday last week but 17 brave Romsey Road Runners took part in the 7th of the summer's RR10 Cross Country series at Manor Farm Country Park and had excellent races. In the ladies event, Penny Jennings 23, Julia Abab 33, Karen Keane 54, Ruth Page 64 and Wendy Couper 72 all achieved their best positions so far, as did Ian Ralph 67, Steve Reed 69, Alistair Longworth 81, Paul Bradley 85, Steve Edwards 88 and Derek Kelly 136 in the men's event. Other Results: Men; Matt Hammerton 4, Andrew Archibald 110, David Page 111, Greg Roulston 134. Ladies; Jane Field 19, Hannah Knowels 60.

Steve Reed took part in the Promenade 5K in Portsmouth and achieved a personal best time of 20:06.

Expectant mum, Sarah Thorn entered the British 10K in London and completed it in a very respectable 58:00.

The popular New Forest 10 Mile took place last Sunday. The race started and finished at New Park, Brockenhurst and was run mainly on roads and good forest tracks.
