'The Winchester 10K Road Race is not conducive to fast times as the course is undulating and always seems to provide more uphill than downhill stretches. However, it does provide excellent training for the faster, flatter races later in the spring. Lynne Whitaker was, once again, the star for Romsey Road Runners, winning her age category and first lady veteran overall, coming 10th out of 286 lady finishers. Heidi Williams also ran a great race in 47:40 and with Liz Slade (53:05), the ladies team finished in fourth place behind much larger clubs. Irisha Cross (54:24), Hannah White (54:26) in her first ever 10K and Charlotte Maslen (56:52) ensured the 'B' team finished 10th. Kate Clements finished in 70:33. New members Nick Saunders (41:53), Jimmy Hunt (42:47) and Steve Reed (42:55) all had good races, especially Steve who gained a second personal best time in as many weeks. Longer serving member members Bruce Maddick finished in 45:15 and Paul Cross 47:17.

Steve Reed's first PB of the month was the previous weekend where he completed the Salisbury 10K in 43:32.

Tamatha Ryan entered three longer races recently in preparation for the London Marathon in April. In very windy conditions, she completed the Blackmore Vale Half Marathon on 1:43:50 and achieved an excellent time of 3 hours 19 minutes in the scenic 21-mile Meon Valley Plod. The most recent was the Terminator 10 Mile where competitors endure a 'hippo' bath along the way, along with other delights all involving mud. Tam beat her previous personal best time for the event by 13 minutes completing the grueling course in 1 hour 44 minutes.

Jane Field traveled over to the Isle of Wight for the Ryde 10 Mile and finished in a very impressive time of 73:44, despite the very hilly course against gale force 8 (ish)!
