Romsey Advertiser's Articles

Dear Sports Editor

Thank you for printing my article in last week's Advertiser. Please find below news from Romsey Road Runners for inclusion in the Road Running section of this week's paper. I have attached a photo taken before the Copythorne Fun Run and hope it can be used: from left to right: Paul Cross, Irisha Cross, Marie Duignan, Charlotte Maslen, Bruce Maddick, Wendy Couper, Anna Duignan, Jane Field.

'As part of Copythorne Carnival Week, some Romsey Road Runners and their families joined in the fun by supporting the 5K and 10K runs in aid of Copythorne Scouts. All finishers received certificates at the end and two members won their races. The Cross family were very well represented in the 5K race with Iain winning the men's race in 17:27; his brother Paul and sister-in-law Irisha finished together in personal best times of 23:27.

In the 10K race, Jane Field was the first lady home in 42:31; Wendy Couper won her age group in 57:13 and Charlotte Maslen ran a personal best time of 53:03. Bruce Maddick finished in 43:17 and Anna Duignan ran with her daughter Marie in 58:33.

The first home run of the summer took place recently, hosted by Pete Good, his family and friends. Pete arranged a delightful, though undulating route (excellent for those in need of hill training) across Broughton Down and through the village. Afterwards members were treated to a delicious and very welcome cricket-tea style picnic at Broughton Pavilion. On behalf of all present, Tony Peelo gave a vote of thanks to Pete and his helpers for a very enjoyable evening.

Please visit www.romseyroadrunners.co.uk for more information about Romsey Road Runners. New members are always welcome.'

Many thanks.
