'Wendy Couper and Juli Abab of Romsey Road Runners went for a run on the beach last Sunday when they competed in the 12K Studland Stampede. Although the route was multi-terrain it was the effort of running over sand dunes which the competitors will remember most. Julia finished in 67:18 and Wendy in 76:11.

Six weeks ago, super-fit triathlete Matt Hammerton set himself a goal to run the Nottingham Marathon in under 2 hours 45 minutes. In the event he finished in a dazzling 2:49, just missing out on automatic qualification for the London Marathon by 4 minutes. Matt will now attempt to finish a fast half marathon to achieve his ambition.

Lynne Whitaker was on fine form again when she finished 2nd lady V45 in 42:43 in the Alice Holt Forest Farnham 10K.
