'The annual Clarendon Marathon and Half Marathon took place last Sunday and eleven Romsey Road Runners braved the very undulating route through a lot of mud and water to complete the Half from Broughton to Winchester while Charlotte Maslen had a double dose when she and her friend Vanessa took on and finished the Marathon from Salisbury to Winchester in 5 hours 28 minutes and 13 seconds. Charlotte is now having a week's rest before putting her running shoes on again!

It was also a very successful day for Romsey Road Runners in the half marathon. The ladies team of Tam Ryan (1:53:56), Penny Jennings (1:56:15) and Janet Eager, in her first race for Romsey, (1:58:59) came runners-up behind Southampton Running Club. Wendy Couper, who was competing in her 7th Clarendon Half, won the W65 age category in a time of 2:26:33 and was part of the ladies 'B' team along with Liz Slade (2:12:23) and Andrea Markham (2:16:16) coming 6th out of 14 teams. Anna Duignan looked very fresh and happy at the finish completing the event in 2:37:19.

In the men's event, Ian Ralph was first home in 1:51:52, Alistair Longworth 1:53:50, Steve Edwards 2:00:42 and Chris Selfe 2:04:27. Alistair was also in action the day before when he completed the North Hants Run In The Park 5K in Basingstoke in 20:38.
