'Last weekend saw one of Romsey Road Runners' most successful in its 23 year history!

Lynne Whitaker won the ladies race in the first of the winter CC6 Cross Country Series held at Beaulieu Road Station in the New Forest. This is the first time the Club has won a race in this league. Other Results: Ladies; Jane Field 7, Mary Corbett 13, Penny Jennings 16, Julia Abab 22, Hannah Knowles 27, Wendy Couper 48. Men; Nick Berryman 7, Jim Wirght 18, Steve Reed 26, Ken West 47, Paul Cutbill 64, Greg Roulston 69, Paul Slaughter 78.

Meanwhile, five members took part in the Salisbury Half Marathon, two achieving personal best times for the distance and one a personal best, by eight minutes, for the course. Liz Slade's time of 1:57:53 PB also earned her 1st lady in the V50 age category. The event was very well organised, clearly way-marked and well marshalled along the course which took participants on a very scenic route through country lanes and villages to the north of the city. There was a nasty little loop at the end which took runners tantalisingly close to the finish when there was still about half mile to go but apart from that it was very enjoyable. Other Results: Alistair Longworth (1:38:21 PB for the course), Steve Edwards (1:43:06), Andrea Markham (1:57:47 PB), Heidi Williams (2:02:26).
