The winter running kit was left at home on Friday night as Romsey Road Runners held their Annual Presentation Evening at Ampfield Golf Club. Club Coach Jane Field was awarded the Ladies RR10 trophy and also represented the Ladies Penthalon team, whilst Mark Adams won Road Runner of the Year as voted for by members of the club. Also winning awards were Lynne Whittaker – Sally Silence award for Performance; Mary Corbett – Ladies Cross-Country; Paul Cross – Men’s Pentathlon; Matt Hammerton – Men’s RR10; Christopher Brown – Men’s Cross-Country and Keith Stone received the Chairman’s Award.
Many of the award winners made up the 19 club members who ran the CC6 at Dibden Enclosure on Sunday, the second race of the series, putting Romsey Road Runners in 4th position with four races to go.
Also running on Sunday was Tamatha Ryan who competed in the
SAAB Salomon Turbo X Trail at Martinique, Bordon, the last of the 2008 series.
Described as “nature at its gnarliest”, Tamatha completed the
10 miles of rough terrain including bogs, marshes and steep hills in 1 hour
32 minutes.
