One of the hottest weekends of the year did not deter Romsey Road Runners from successfully competing in an array of tough events. Four members of the club travelled to the Isle of Wight to take part in the Needles Half Marathon. The hot weather and undulating course made hard work for the runners, but the fantastic views and cooling breeze once up on Tennyson Down made up for this. Janet Eager was first home for the club coming 4th V45 in 2 hours 01, Julia Abab came in 10th V45 in 2:18, Derek Kelly achieved 3rd V60 in 2:22 and Heidi Williams finished in 2:34.

Tamatha Ryan competed in the first Saab Salomon Turbo X Trail race of the 2009 series which took place in Swinley Forest Bracknell. Known for being a series of tough off-road races with bogs and hills galore, this first race had it all with the wettest and muddiest 1-mile section about half way in. Ryan completed the 10.5 mile race in 1 hour 42 achieving 6th V40 and 20th lady overall.

Recent results also include Emily Toone competing in the Egdon Easy on 23rd May, finishing in 46.38 and taking part in the Royal Victoria Country Park 10k on 17th May were: Nick Berryman finishing in 39.34, Lynne Whittaker coming 2nd V50 in 41.25, Amanada Hull coming 7th senior in 42.44 and New Awty finishing in 49.24.
