The Lordshill 10k received great reviews again this year, and was enjoyed by 7 members of Romsey Road Runners. Praised for its friendly atmosphere and excellent marshalling, the annual event organised by Lordshill Road Runners is a fast and mainly flat course with some interesting rural sections and slight undulations to keep the competitors happy. Mark Adams was first home for Romsey in 41:18 coming 8th V40, closely followed by Chris Brown and Ned Awty, who achieved a personal best, both running excellent times of 43:19 and 46:33 respectively. The ladies also brought home excellent results with Penny Jennings coming 3rd V45 in a time of 47:16 and Janet Eager right behind her in 4th V45 in 47:45. Heidi Williams came 9th in the Senior age category in 51:24 and Liz Slade finished 6th V45 in 51:58. Jennings, Eager and William’s times all contributed to the ladies winning 3rd Womens team overall.

Wendy Couper took part in the first ever Down Lander 10, which started and finished on Marlborough Common. The 10 mile course was very scenic with little shade over the Marlborough Downs, and in the very hot weather Couper ran an excellent time of 2 hours to win her age group.

Steve Davies traveled to the Cotswold's to compete in the Humphs Hilly Half Marathon, which as its name suggests is a tough undulating event which is run at the later time of 6pm. The evening start may have helped a little with the heat, which made things all the more arduous, but Davies finished in a strong time of 1.50:18.

The 6th race of the RR10 series was run at Manor Farm Country Park last week, with a slightly smaller field than at previous meets, but nevertheless Romsey still turned out 29 runners for the warm evening. Jimmy Hunt held position finishing 14 behind some difficult competitors and Lyne Whittaker was first home for the ladies finishing in 10th.
