Romsey Ladies Dominate Home Race!

There can be no doubt that the Romsey 5 Mile Road Race was a triumphant success for local runners and the town alike. Despite the controversy ahead of the race, both Halterworth Harriers and Romsey Road Runners were committed to taking part in the local race, and both clubs were rewarded with fantastic support from spectators and victorious results.

Romsey Road Runners Ladies team were particularly successful, winning the Ladies Team Trophy with Lynne Whittaker (33:03) also first home for her age category and 3rd lady overall, Amanda Hull (35:06) and Jane Field (35:13).

The men’s team also fared well with Nick Berryman and Jimmy Hunt producing personal best times of 31:12 and 32:20 respectively and Steve Reed third man home for the club in 33:53. Also competing were Paul Bradley (35:20), Christine Saunders (39:07, PB), Paul Slaughter (39:48, PB), Greg Roulston (40:44), Hannah White (40:35, PB), Keith Stone (42:40) and Helen Stone (44:00).

Romsey Road Runners would like to thank Caroline Nokes for her support of the race and Test Valley Borough Council for allowing the race to go ahead on its usual route.

Another local event taking place on Sunday was the George Skeates XC Fun Run at Stockbridge. The 8 mile cross country course is open to runners, mountain bikers, joggers and walkers and Paul Cutbill, Penny Jennings and Julia Abab all took part from the club.
